Workspace
The workspace is the folder a chat works in. With a workspace open, the agent gets the tools to work on your code: read and search files, write and edit them, run commands, use git, preview the app and look at it in a browser. With no folder open, it has none of these.
Open one with the folder button in the app, /workspace DIR, or by running crewdesk in the folder. /workspace off closes it. Your home folder and the whole disk are refused.
Project instructions
If the folder's root has an AGENTS.md (or else a CLAUDE.md), it goes with each turn: how the project is built, tested and organized. A subfolder's own file is read when the agent works under it. /init asks the agent to read the folder and write an AGENTS.md.
Instructions guide the agent; they never grant it anything. A push, a deploy or a folder switch still needs your yes, and the sandbox and the rules on secrets stay as they are.
Project check
After the agent edits files, Crewdesk runs the project's check (its typecheck, lint and tests) in the same step and hands the agent only the lines that failed, which it fixes before answering. The command is the one your instructions name on a check: line, for example:
md
check: `pnpm tsc && pnpm test`check: none turns it off; without a line, Crewdesk looks for the usual one at the folder's root.
Visual check
When the agent changes a screen's files (HTML, CSS, JSX, Vue, Svelte…) while a dev server is running, it takes screenshots on desktop and mobile, fixes what looks wrong and looks again, a few times per turn at most.
Changes and undo
Every file the agent changes in a chat is kept as it was first. The workspace panel (or /changes in the terminal) lists them with their diff, and each one can be put back, or all of them at once.
Moving to another folder
The agent can propose to continue the chat in a new folder (for a new project) or in one your computer already knows, as a card you approve. It can bring a copy of the current folder along, without secrets, dependencies or build output. New projects go to your projects folder (~/Crewdesk by default; crewdesk config projects-dir changes it).
